Tracing Paper original. Map of lot to be leased to MDU (Montana-Dakota Utilities) in Blacktail, South Dakota. Showing Highway 14A, Homestake Coordinates, Deadwood Creek, water lines, and house of George and Ardyth Thoresen. This lot is on top of the foundation of Homestake's Cyanide #2 plant.

This map also shows mining claims Mary M.S. 1363, Sandberg M.S. 1363, Markham M.S. 1363, Placer M.S. 252, Placer M.S. 62, Placer M.S. 51, and lists the townsip and Range (Section 28, T5N, R3E, BHM (Black Hills Prime Meridian).

This collection is housed at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center with no restrictions to access. The collection may be utilized during normal operating hours or by appointment.

Biographical / Historical

MDU built their office on this lot and then sold it to the Homestake Exploration Division. The Homestake Mine division took the building over when the Exploration office was closed. The Homestake Mine office is now here (2025). The Thoresen house was torn down when the Homestake Mine built their Open Cut water treatment plant on this site.
