Scope and Contents
This collection consists of magazines, journals, maps, books, and published reports that were kept in the offices of the Homestake Mining Company. Some of the materials pertain specifically to the Homestake Mining Company and the Black Hills region, while the majority pertain to mining sciences and economics. Publications from around the world including Canada, South Africa, and Great Britian can be found in this collection. Please see box list for all publications within this collection.

Conditions Governing Access
This collection is housed at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center with no restrictions to access. The collection may be utilized during normal operating hours or by appointment.
Biographical / Historical
From as early as the 1910s, the Homestake Mining Company and its employees subscribed to and collected publications related to mining and publications related to its land holdings and mission. Books on various topics, including management and economics, were kept in several offices as well.
Homestake had interests outside of the Black Hills. In the 1970s and 1980s, those interests included international sites in South Africa and Canada, both of which are well represented in the published works kept by the company.

Abstract
The Periodicals and Publications Collection consists of several journals, magazines, books, and maps found in the offices of Homestake Mining Company. These publications were received and used by employees of the Homestake Mining Company.
Arrangement
This collection contains publications from several different publishers. Journals and other periodicals have been arranged by volume number. Books are housed in the last two boxes with photocopied articles originaly kept in the offices of Homestake Mining Company. Please see box list for titles of periodicals found in the collection. A list of the individual items in this collection is available at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center. A digital copy is available upon request.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
These materials were transferred as a portion of one donation, accession number 2005.001, from Homestake Mining Company on May 26, 2005.
